The Excursions

For each holiday we have included a days excursion that is linked to the theme of your holiday. The day out will give you ample opportunity to explore and examine the sights while having a days rest from painting. A perfect chance to take those photographs to serve as reminders and inspiration for you paintings
“Whitewashed Villages”, an excursion to Comares
As part of your painting holiday we take a day's excursion to the white washed village of Comares. It is one of the highest in Andalucia and is breathtakingly pretty and an excellent location for painting.
Originally a Roman fort, the Moors used the foundations to build their own fortress on this site.
The village was one of the principle defensive bastions of the Moorish empire and it is typically Moorish in its design with narrow cobbled streets interspersed with arches.
What are most incredible are the views, almond, and olive trees reaching to the sea, and on the northern side dramatic mountains.
“Moorish Architecture”, an excursion to Antequera
This historic town of Antequera is situated right in the centre
of Andalucia, in a rich, fertile plain.
It has been inhabited since prehistoric times and every generation, including the Romans have made their mark. Some of the most important Roman Villa ruins have been discovered here.
There are plenty of sights to be seen and it is known for its abundance of places of worship, more than anywhere else in Spain.
The Arab castle dominates the town and from here panoramic views can be had. The White Tower and Keep are still standing and are splendid to witness.
